Our History

The Big Sky Chapter of ABWA was chartered in June of 1964 by then president Sylvia Corriel.  Sylvia heard about the American Business Women’s Association and was impressed by its mission to bring together women from a diverse cross section of the business community.  At the time there were several professional women’s groups, but they tended to be focused on a single profession such as CPAs or nurses.  Membership has ebbed and flowed since 1964 and currently stands at about 40 women.  For the most part, the goals and structure of the chapter have remained true to their origins of bringing together women from across the business spectrum to network, develop friendships, grow professionally and give back through its scholarship program and other educational programming.
